Madhuram Malayalam Issue 20
Students of Class 8A at SAFA English Medium School released a beautifully crafted 19th issue of handwritten magazine “Madhuram Malayalam." Created under the guidance of their class teacher, this magazine stands as a heartfelt tribute to the richness, rhythm, and emotional depth of our mother tongue.
This magazine is more than an academic exercise—it’s a quiet celebration of identity, culture, and the emotional ties we hold with our native tongue. Madhuram Malayalam reminds us that the language we speak is also the language we feel, and preserving it begins with owning it—letter by letter.

Hope In The Dark
Hope in the dark,
the very thing so dearly sought.
Shine the light,
which can lead me right.
Alter the unbearable pain,
only in desperation and vain.
The hope that leads me out,
can never ever be bought.
The moon shines bright in the sky,
to give me the to atleast try.
The sight I see,
can't be for thee.
Hope in the dark,
the very thing so sought.
Shine the light,
which can lead me right.

The Unnoticed Smile
One morning, Riya was walking to class with a tired face. She had studied late, skipped breakfast, and wasn’t in the mood to talk. On the way, she saw the school guard smile and wish her good morning. She smiled back, almost without thinking.
That small smile changed something in her day. She felt lighter, calmer — as if someone had noticed her when no one else did. Later, she found herself smiling at her classmate who looked worried before a test. He smiled back too.
By the end of the day, Riya realized that a simple smile had quietly moved through so many people — starting from one person who didn’t even know how much it meant.
Sometimes, the smallest things we do — a smile, a kind word, a thank you — go further than we ever see.
And maybe, that’s what makes ordinary days a little special.

The Last Lesson
Aanya was a quiet student in Class 11. She wasn’t bad at studies, but she often doubted herself. Every time there was a test, she would get nervous and make small mistakes. Her favourite teacher, Mr. Joseph, was the only one who truly understood her.
He taught English, but his lessons were not just about grammar and essays. He often told the class, “Education is not only in books, it’s in how you face life.” He had a soft voice, gentle eyes, and a smile that made everyone feel confident.
Whenever Aanya felt sad about her marks, Mr. Joseph would notice it immediately. One day after class, he called her and said kindly,
"Aanya, you have something special in you. Don’t compare yourself with others. Just keep trying, and one day you’ll shine brighter than you imagine"
Those words stayed in her heart. From that day, Aanya tried to study with more hope and less fear.
But one Monday morning, everything changed. The principal entered the classroom, her face unusually serious. The class fell silent.
She said softly, “Children… I have some sad news. Mr. Joseph passed away last night due to a heart attack.”
For a few seconds, no one moved. Then Aanya felt her throat tighten, and tears rolled down her cheeks. The class that day felt empty — no laughter, no lessons, just silence.
After school, Aanya walked to Mr. Joseph’s classroom. It was quiet, and the sunlight from the window fell on his empty chair. His books were still neatly stacked on the table, and his pen lay beside them. She slowly walked closer and touched the desk.
That’s when she noticed a small folded note under one of his books. With shaking hands, she opened it. It was written in his familiar handwriting:
"To my dear students NEVER stop learning learning, even when I am not here to teach you. Remember, knowledge lives forever"
Aanya held the paper tightly and cried quietly. She didn’t know why, but that message felt like it was meant for her.
From that day, Aanya decided she would study harder — not for marks, but to make her teacher proud. Whenever she got tired, she would remember his words and smile.
Months later, during the final exams, Aanya scored the highest marks in her class. When she received her report card, she looked up at the sky and whispered,
"Sir I did it , this is for you!! "
She knew he was gone, but in her heart, his lessons still lived on — guiding her every step of the way.

The name Kerala is derived from 'Kera' (coconut tree) and 'Alam' (land), meaning the land of coconut trees. Kerala is also known as the land of spices.

The importance of financial literacy in Youth
Finance, it is something most people are confused about and tend to not do well with what they have. Although finance is important only when we reach a certain point in life, it is important to build a strong base in our youth. Building a strong youth is especially important since if you do not practice early on, things will get difficult to alter and change later in the later stages of life, which is becoming a problem in our society nowadays.
Learning finance is important from the ages of 10 to 19. Since it is the time where you don't have as much pressure as adults do. Therefore, it is the optimal time for mastering finance.
It is estimated that people who work in highly financed occupations make about $9.1 million in their lifetimes and they retire happily. Which makes studying it in the prime ages of our life.
It is known that most of Warren Buffett's 85 billion Dollar net worth came after his 65th birthday. You might wonder if he just got lucky. You do need a pinch of luck in finance but Buffett started investing at 10 years old.
