Madhuram Malayalam Issue 19
Students of Class 7F at SAFA English Medium School released a beautifully crafted 19th issue of handwritten magazine “Madhuram Malayalam." Created under the guidance of their class teacher, this magazine stands as a heartfelt tribute to the richness, rhythm, and emotional depth of our mother tongue.
This magazine is more than an academic exercise—it’s a quiet celebration of identity, culture, and the emotional ties we hold with our native tongue. Madhuram Malayalam reminds us that the language we speak is also the language we feel, and preserving it begins with owning it—letter by letter.

Celebrating our Roots: Kerala Piravi Celebration
Kerala Piravi was celebrated with great spirit and pride at Safa English Medium School on November 1st, 2025. The day marked the formation of the state of Kerala and reminded everyone of its unique culture, language, and traditions.
One of the most delightful highlights was the activity by the Kindergarten students, who beautifully formed the shape of Kerala with their own bodies on the ground. This formation, named “Kutti Keralam”, captured hearts and symbolized unity and innocence.
For the high school students, the celebration took a more active turn. A field visit was organized to help them connect with the environment and the essence of the land. Alongside this, a cleanliness drive was conducted, where students took the initiative to clean the school surroundings, promoting awareness about hygiene and community responsibility.
Though there was no formal assembly, the day was filled with meaningful actions and creative expressions that brought out the true spirit of Kerala Piravi. It was a celebration that blended tradition with responsibility, making it memorable for everyone involved.

GUIDING LIGHT
In darkness's depths, a spark remains,
A flame that flickers, yet sustains.
Hope's gentle whisper, soft and low,
Echoes through the heart's deepest woe.
It's the sunrise after endless night,
The promise of a brighter light.
A bridge that spans the troubled sea,
Guiding us to calmer destiny.
With every step, with every fall,
Hope's resilient voice stands tall.
It lifts the gaze, it heals the soul,
And makes the heart whole.
In hope's warm light, fears fade away,
As possibilities unfold each day.
It's the anchor that holds fast and strong,
The beacon that guides us, right and long.

Your Brain on Boredom: Why Doing Nothing Is Actually Brilliant
When was the last time you were truly bored? No scrolling, no playlists, no podcasts humming in the background — just you, a quiet room, and nothing to do.
If that idea makes you squirm a little, you’re not alone. We live in an age where every moment is filled — emails on the bus, TikToks in bed, notifications in between. Boredom feels like a glitch in the system, something to eliminate. But here’s the twist: doing nothing might be one of the smartest things you can do for your brain.
When you’re bored, your brain doesn’t switch off — it switches inward. The same neural network that lights up during daydreaming, known as the default mode network (DMN), is linked to creativity, problem-solving, and emotional processing. Think about it: how many of your best ideas popped up in the shower, on a walk, or while zoning out in traffic? That’s your DMN at work, quietly connecting dots while you’re “doing nothing.”
Boredom isn’t a bug — it’s a feature. It gives your mind the space to wander, reflect, and make sense of the chaos you’ve been feeding it all day.
Every time you fill a pause with your phone, you’re telling your brain: Don’t rest. Don’t wander. Stay busy. Over time, that can dull creativity and even raise stress levels. We become less comfortable sitting with our thoughts — and more dependent on external stimulation to feel okay.
You don’t have to meditate on a mountaintop to reclaim your boredom superpower. Try leaving your phone behind for a 20-minute walk — no music, no podcasts, just thoughts. Block out “unplanned time” on your calendar and protect it. Watch the clouds. Or ceiling fans. Or raindrops. Give your mind permission to drift.
The goal isn’t to eliminate boredom — it’s to make peace with it. Boredom is your brain’s way of saying, “Hey, I need space to breathe.” So next time you catch yourself reaching for your phone in a quiet moment, pause. That silence you’re trying to fill? It’s where your next big idea might be waiting.
